The ability to set the section templates from within the 'configure' button is excellent. Users should also have, on the same page, the possiblity to set the default article type. In such a setup, users would still be able to change article types by selecting from the existing article type pulldown menu, but admins would be able to preset which article type appears first (and therefore default).
