Description by maroy:
a lot of image files are gif files in modules/htmlUI. this is generally a bad idea, as GIF is a format that would require paying license fees...

All .gif´s replaced with .png´s, except ls_logo_animated.gif because i know no other well supported animated format. Afaik, there is just license fee for graphic software which supports creating .gif, not for the pictures himself.
