Description by douglas:
For installations where the LS Studio main output sound card is the same as the scheduler's output, we need to provide a user-friendly way of providing warnings that the sound card is in use. Ideally, two things would happen: 1) The master panel 'Now Playing' field would show the name of the playlist currently playing on schedule. 2) An error message would be displayed when a user tries to play a file in live mode, like "Error: The file could not be played because playlist <name> is currently playing. Would you like to interrupt this playlist and play in live mode? [Yes] [No]" Currently, a user who does not invoke /opt/livesupport/bin/gLiveSupport.sh from the command line does not see any error messages related to why the file is not playing, but the following error message is given by GStreamer: gstreamer error: OSS device "/dev/dsp" is already in use by another program.

or, we could encourage a setup where all sound input is channeled together...?
I don't know if that's desirable though. thinking of a use scenario, where the cue and real output is mixed together, that might not the user would want...
