Description by maroy:
the HTML UI, on the preferences menu doesn't say what format it expects for the file upload limit, or the units it understands. for example:
8 - 8 what? bytes? gigabytes? 8k ? 8kB ? 8M ?
please put a note on the UI preferences page hinting on the possbile format, and also update the documentation, here: https://www.campware.org/manuals/livesupport/1.0/index.php?id=43

this bug is related to #1480

I agree with Akos to remove limit from system preferences.
To change php.ini root privileges are needet and apache have to restart, so it is not a good idea to do this inside the htmlUI.
I would integrate the possibility to change settings during installation.

why invalid?
I still see a strong need to at least add a comment there, that tells the user, that the value is expected in bytes, or that he can use the form 10M to say 'ten megabytes'
I myself still don't know what to enter into this field...

The field was removed already. Upload filesize will fixed at 100MB in .htaccess file, and even go into apache config during installation.
The file upload limit doesn't make a lot of sense to me, personally; it can only limit the settings already in php.ini, and has served to confuse a lot of people. My vote would be to remove it entirely, and provide a user-friendly interface to change the php.ini setting.
