With the install program, the DHCP function still hangs the install process and blocks any further calls to eth0, which hangs web browsers, etc. Firefox would not start after the block, for example. One workaround is to boot with the option 'knoppix nodhcp', which correctly works. But best would be to somehow release DHCP in the installer before it tries to configure DHCP for the install.

Having seen the Install CD work on several computers, we can safely mark this as a 'known issue' for some hardware, but not fix it.
reason for this behaviour is most likely a bug in this version's knoppix kernel modules regarding some network adapter. affected cards : unknown. (I can prove serveral to work) there is no other workaround than boot with 'nodhcp', or remove the network configuration from installer. and no other possible solution than trying with compiling a new kernel (and modules)
